Hey-lo lovliesππ
We're flipping the script this time! No more snooze-worthy numbers; it's time for a heart-to-heart about how our wallets and our peace of mind are more connected than we think. With International Mental Health Day around the corner, I think it's the universe's way of telling us to talk about the real stuff. So, buckle up! We're gonna talk about money & mental health β and as always, it's going to be both enlightening and entertaining! Letβs dive in and make finances fun, shall we? π°β¨
Thanks for sharing that with me (hopefully, lol :P)
Now hereβs whatβs in store for you:
Market performance & the Indian economy
A habit thatβs been a life-saver!
What to do when finances overwhelm you
Binge of the month
Are you intrigued? Hang tight, it gets better!
π€¨ βSup with the market
In the past month, Indian markets have been on a wild ride. The markets hit an all-time high and we were all cheering, but then reality hit, and they slowed down because of profit-booking. Classic market rollercoaster, right? π’πΈSmaller stocks faced ups and downs, while larger ones managed to stabilize a bit, amid global economic uncertainty, inflation concerns, and high interest rates, making investors uneasy.
This volatility triggered selling pressure from foreign investors (FIIs) and high-net-worth individuals (HNIs). The global economic slowdown, coupled with high inflation and persistently high-interest rates, fueled this trend. The Reserve Bank of India predicts a potentially slow global economic growth in 2024 due to tighter financial conditions.
Across the pond, London seems to be making a comeback as Europe's top stock market, overtaking Paris by gaining favor among investors and showing signs of positivity after years of uncertainty. In a nutshell, October is showing potential to be a challenging month for investors but we gotta power through it all and wait for a bullish run during the festive season!
This Habit Protects My Financial & Mental Health
We've all had our fair share of financial rollercoasters, and I've been there too. The one thing that's been my saving grace during the tough times is having a good ol' emergency fund to fall back on. I can't stress this enough, and if you've ever bumped into me or Niyati, you've probably heard us preach about it endlessly, everywhere we go. But hey, that's just how simple and vital it really is! π
Check out this post to know all about it and treat this as a sign to take some action if you do not have an emergency fund already! ππ€π°
πΊ Binge Of The Month
I totally binged "Kaalaa" on Hotstar this week, the long weekend made me weak! I also caught "Jaane Jan" on Netflix, itβs an adaptation of "The Devotion of Suspect X." But hey, between you and me, I'm always team book over movie! Happens every time, right? ππ¬
π 3 Essential Tips to Manage Financial Stress and Boost Mental Well-being
Ekta Dixit (@ektadixit_speaks) is a Psychologist, Relationship Coach, Mental Health Creator, and a dear friend. Go follow her now and thank me later! Letβs dive right into what she has to say:
Dealing with financial stress can indeed be a rollercoaster ride, impacting wallets and our well-being in profound ways. When our financial stability wavers, it could feel like a storm of worry that keeps us awake at night and casts a shadow over our days. Bills pile up, incomes shrink, and suddenly, we find ourselves dealing with insomnia, unexpected weight changes, and a desire to withdraw from the world. Even our closest relationships can feel the strain, making us irritable and disinterested in the things we used to enjoy.
But the impact of financial stress isn't limited to our emotions; it affects physical health too. Stress can lead to problems like high blood pressure, migraines, gastrointestinal issues, and even heart complications, creating a cycle of health challenges.
So, what's the way out? Talking it out is key. Despite living in a society that often praises stoic silence, opening up about our financial worries can bring immense relief. And here are 3 steps you can take when your finances overwhelm you:
1. Prioritize Physical and Mental Health
Combat stress by embracing physical activity. Exercise acts as a powerful stress buster, reducing cortisol levels and enhancing cognitive functions. Moreover, focus on healthy coping mechanisms. Avoid turning to destructive habits and instead find solace in activities that nurture your well-being, such as hobbies, relaxation techniques, or spending quality time with loved ones.
2. Fix Your Budget
Take charge of your finances by creating a detailed budget. Analyze spending patterns, identify unnecessary subscriptions, and cut down on non-essential expenses. Being mindful of your financial flow can provide a sense of control and reduce anxiety.
3. Communicate Openly
Engage in honest conversations with family members about your financial situation. Share your concerns, explore causes together, and work collaboratively towards solutions. Mutual support can significantly alleviate stress
πΈ Cocktail Pe Charcha
Is it too overwhelming to research & plan your investment? Say no more, we can personally guide you into mixing the perfect financial cocktail to manage your money!
Managing finances can be a lot of things. It can be the most empowering thing to do, it can be completely overwhelming, it can downright push you to your lowest, and well, you get it, it can be chaotic. But the most important thing about this is your intent (and the actions that the intent nudges you towards).
Financial decisions must push you towards feeling the positive spectrum of emotions. This is my ground rule, if a financial decision feels wrong even remotely, then it most definitely is wrong. Trust that feeling.
Start small, your intent to be better can take you anywhere even if it takes a little more time.ππ€π°
I'll write to you soon!
Until then, take care of yourself and those around you :)
