Smoking costs you βΉ1 Crore!? π¬π±ππ
Hello Fam!
Belated holi wishes to you & yours! I hope you had a lovely day of fun and/or aaraam! Today, let's talk about a habit that burns a hole in your pocket and harms your health. But before we get there, tell meβ¦
If youβre a smoker, it might be time to extinguish the costly habit. If youβre a non-smoker, this will be an eye-opener for times when youβre tempted to give in. Read on to explore the financial side of smoking and take a call!
Market ka haal: Despite a stumble in the IT sector, our benchmark stock indices wrapped up the week on a positive note. While Sensex rose by 190.75 points to close at 72,831.94, Nifty50 climbed 66.1 points to settle at 22,078.05.
After an initial dip, broader market indices bounced back, shrugging off concerns sparked by Accenture's tempered revenue forecast for 2024. Notably, heavyweights like TCS and Infosys took a hit amid the trading session.
As we all gear up to celebrate Holi, the Indian stock markets took a breather yesterday, providing traders with a well-deserved downtime. We'll only have three trading sessions this week, as exchanges will be closed again on Friday, March 29 for Good Friday.
Meanwhile, across the pond, the US, European, and Asian markets continue their bullish run, showing promising signs of positive momentum. ππ
What I was up to:Β We closed a lot of work last week with back-to-back shoots for our reels, the podcast, and guest features. Speaking of our podcast,

Humara Gyaan:Β Ready to light up your financial future? Well, put down that cigarette and listen up! Quitting smoking isn't just a win for your lungs and your wallet, too. Kicking the habit can ignite a firestorm of financial benefits you won't want to miss.
Itβs time to say goodbye to burning cash! Those daily packs of cigarettes might seem harmless at first, but they're secretly draining your bank account faster than you can say "nicotine fix." By tossing out the smokes, you're not just saving your lungs, but also padding your pockets.
If you smoke an average of 3 cigarettes per day, and each cigarette costs βΉ15, let's calculate how much you'll save in a year after quitting:
Savings per day: 3 cigarettes/day * βΉ15/cigarette = βΉ45/day
Savings per year: βΉ45/day * 365 days = βΉ16,425/year
However, this is not a static cost. Cigarette prices have risen consistently over the past few years and will keep rising every year as taxes on tobacco products go up.
Smoking burns a bigger hole in your finances than you can possibly imagine. ET Wealth estimated in 2016 that a 30-year-old who smokes five cigarettes a day could lose over βΉ1 Crore due to the habit by the time they turn 60, and the figure could be way up today.
There are numerous social smokers out there and I think itβs time to make social quitting a thing, for the love of you, your money, everyone around you and the planet.
Time to put those cigarettes down, for good!
