My Son Taught Me What Money REALLY Means! 🥹🥹
Hello!!
How are you doing? I’ve been itching to know what y’all value, so please tell me:
What I was up to: The past week was great for me since I went on a short trip with my husband and Krishu to Singapore, and I loved every bit of it! The city is so clean and kid-friendly, I think it would be super fun for kids up to 12 years of age because there are so many engaging activities for them!
We are now registered mutual fund distributors!! If you would like to check it out, you can fill out this form, and our team will get in touch with you soon :)
Market ka haal: The bulls showed up fashionably late this week, but I am so glad that they did show up 😎. After some early-week hitchkis, the markets bounced back on May 21 with Sensex closing up by 410.19 points at 81,596.63 and Nifty 50 closing at 24,813.45. This recovery was driven by renewed investor interest in major banking stocks, and positive cues from Asian markets🌏💰.
Meanwhile, the rupee ended the day flat, thanks to foreign banks bidding up the dollar, which basically canceled out any advantage from a weakening USD. 💔 FIIs turned net sellers and stepped in to cushion the blow, taking advantage of the dip to accumulate quality stocks. Experts note that while headline volatility may continue in the near term, India’s solid consumption fundamentals, ongoing policy reforms, and resilient corporate earnings provide a compelling backdrop for medium-term growth 📈🚀
Humara Gyaan: I was that girl who scrolled deal sites at 2 a.m., hunting the cheapest red-eye flight, convinced frugality was the badge of honour. Then I had my son Krishu join us on trips, and life turned around, laughed at me! He is now two and full of opinions, and sometimes, quite finicky. I realise that my financial goals, especially around travel, are so different now! Here are the three insights that rewired my financial goals.
1️⃣ 🌍 Travel Stays in the Budget, Period
I know many people cut travel and focus on saving, but for me, experiences shape memories, so the “travel” line in my ledger has always been sacred. I now treat it like rent, a fixed cost that gets funded first. Travel isn’t a luxury anymore. It’s a value-based decision, so I funnel a set amount into a dedicated travel account every month.
2️⃣ 🧸 Ease Beats Ego When Toddlers Board
I used to boast about snagging the rock-bottom fare. With Krishu joining us lately, comfort always wins over that amazing feeling of scoring the best deal. There was a time I valued money alone, but now I also value my sanity and my child's comfort equally. The extra money we spend buys calmer transitions, predictable naps, and makes us parents who still like each other by dinner.
3️⃣ ⏱️ The Price of “Doing It All” Is Higher Than the Ticket
I categorically reject adding too many things to the itinerary while keeping a toddler entertained. I do not want to be overwhelmed with half-seen landmarks and an overtired child. Every activity has an energy cost, too! Now, I pad itineraries with buffer days and fewer activities because paying for things you didn’t enjoy is the worst kind of expense.
4️⃣ 🎟️ Flexibility And Convenience All The Way!
We now pick fluid, open-ended passes for sightseeing, activities, or local experiences, the kind that don’t penalise you for showing up late, or not at all. This way you get to enjoy at your own time, or if I am being honest, your toddler’s time, so you do not end up wasting money or forcing your pretty little baby. Forcing Krishu into a morning zoo tour on a bad nap day is a lose-lose.

Money should be the tool that builds memories, not the rule that breaks them. Every now and then there might be emotions and things you may value above or at par with money. It would probably cost you a lot lesser to acknowledge and admit to that than trying to be a rigid budget-watcher. Please don’t mistake me, though! The numbers still matter, but they finally serve the life you want, rather than dictate it.
Here’s to letting money serve peace🍻
